Answers to Prayers
66Answers to Prayers
Most Christians know that all of our prayers will not be answered. That is only spiritual maturity or intelligence. Most of us realize that if we had everything single thing we needed, we might actually slack in our prayer life. It is like a child who begs his natural father for a toy; he pleads and pleads until he receives and then he is satisfied for awhile and goes about his little life habits, without bugging dad. So many time we Christians do the same things, yet when we are faced with something that is troubling us we wonder why we do not get Answers to our Prayers.
Obedience is key and here is why:
Isaiah 1:19 - "If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land; V. 20, But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it."
Another scripture which tells us:
Psalms: 34: 14 - "Depart from evil, and do good, seek peace, and pursue it. V. 15, The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry."
Psalms: 34: 6 - "This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. V, 7, The Angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them."
Yes, these are old testament scriptures but they still apply to us today. First we can't expect our prayers to be answer if we have not been obedient to him. Why would we? Yes, he does bless us in our sins and yes he died for the sinner but he also expects something from us. We can't go about life without being conscious of our daily living and then go to Jesus for answers when we can't do anything for ourselves. He wants at least our prayer of thanksgiving that all is well, we are not hurting and that all we need at the moment is his love and sheltering power. But it seems we humans sometimes forget that he wants to be our Savior all the time not just when we need him.
Most of us have had more than our share of God's deliverance. If you think about it; think of all the times when possibly you or I were walking afar off from the path that we know is right and somehow, his loving hand reached down just in time. Just in time to keep us from making the worst mistake of our life. Then there are the times when we did not heed his voice or direction and then it is inevitable we are bound to suffer the consequences of our behavior.
The Father wants consistency, stability, constent prayer and worship. If we are doing everything we know to do; he will answer our prayers. No, it will notalways be what we think we need or want. It will be according to his plan. I have seen the Lord give me what I thought I wanted and he does do this also; and it turned out to be one of the worst mistakes of my life. He allows us to make our own mistakes; hoping we learn that trusting his guidance is essential to living life at its best. But, never doubt that there is Answers to Prayers from the heavenly Father.
When we Pray
The scripture states that we should not boast of our prayers but that we should enter into our closet and pray in private and he will reward us openly. It think that so many times we don't understand why we do not get what we need when we have prayer, gone to church and done what we believe to be the right thing. But; these are the times to remember that his ways are not our ways and his thoughts are not thoughts and he sees today but he also sees tomorrow. Yes, he also saw yesterday but when we asked him for, forgiveness, if we needed to; he has separated us from yesterday.
When the Lord gave us the Lord's prayer, he was teaching us how to pray, and of course this is how it goes:
The Lord's Prayer
Going to Him
It seems so simple that we pray this prayer and it includes everything we need to say.....I do not think that is what the Lord meant when he gave us this prayer. The scripture states that ye have not because ye ask not...he expects us to come to him and seek his face in our times of need. Yes he knows what we need but we must humble ourselves before him.
Sometimes when we are in such pain, it is hard to pray. It is hard to find the words to describe how we feel or even open out mouth to utter the words. These are the times that he looks into our heart and mind and he see the pain and he reaches down his hand of mercy and lets the flowing love and peace back into our life.
King David knew how to pray, even when he had sinned. He knew the Father had his hand upon him and loved him. He praised God for his mercy and prayer for the forgiveness that he knew the Lord could give him.
Psalm 23- gives David's confidence in God's grace and we must do the same. There are always Answers to Prayer from the Father of love.
